Shoreview, MN, boasts a diverse lineup of top industries with major operations in the region, such as healthcare, professional services, and technology. But manufacturing has long occupied a key space in the city, part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Today, close to 40 manufacturing businesses employ about 1,200 people, with companies enjoying the benefits of a talented workforce, optimal transportation access and low utility rates. The City of Shoreview celebrates its role as a robust manufacturing hub, but major advantages await prospective new arrivals into the industry’s landscape.

Meet Shoreview’s Major Manufacturers

There’s a long list of manufacturers who operate in Shoreview. Prominent firms include Cummins Power, which produces diesel/alternative fuel engines and generators. A global corporation with over 60,000 employees, approximately 1,700 work within the Greater Twin Cities region. Westinghouse Electric Corporation is another manufacturing giant with operations in Shoreview. Westinghouse produces a wide array of everyday products, from kitchen appliances to generators and batteries, as well as nuclear fuel and electrical distribution systems.

With all of Shoreview’s business advantages, we believe we’re positioned to accommodate an even more thriving manufacturing scene in the near future.”

Location Advantages

Shoreview’s proximity to the Twin Cities presents several advantages for companies such as manufacturers, who need easy access to robust transportation infrastructure. Currently, 21 railroad companies, including four Class I freight lines, operate in Minnesota, which features close to 4,500 freight railroad miles.

It also requires significant power to operate a manufacturing center. Companies in Shoreview benefit from massive cost savings when it comes to utilities, due to rates that are 90% below the U.S. national average.
