Shoreview Economic Development Frequently Asked Questions

The city of Shoreview, MN, is conveniently located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We are committed to fostering business development in the community through support of existing businesses and solicitation of new business investment. The city manages and promotes economic-based development, redevelopment, and business retention and expansion as part of our economic development efforts. 

A suburb of St. Paul, Shoreview is equidistant from that city and its nearby Twin Cities sibling, Minneapolis. The city is located about 20 minutes from Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport and St. Paul’s Union Depot, which provides commuter and Amtrak service. Shoreview has two major interstates running through, providing easy access for employees and transportation of goods. Shoreview’s other advantages include:

  • High quality of life with 11 lakes, 15 parks, 60 miles of walking trails and more than 1,400 acres of green space. Shoreview was the first city in Minnesota to be recognized as a Bicycle-Friendly City by the League of American Bicyclists.

Economic development in Shoreview is led by Assistant City Manager and Economic Development Director Tom Simonson, with support from Assistant Community Development Director Niki Hill. Oversight is provided by the city’s Economic Development Authority, and staff work closely with the Economic Development Commission, which focuses on promoting local businesses, strengthening the business community, facilitating communication between businesses and city government, and creating networking opportunities.
